Islam perpetrates violence and hate towards women?

The Quran sanctions domestic violence so in theocracies like Saudi Arabia women are treated as property. That is the "true" Islam, so I don't know why any woman would want to subjugate themselves to such a religion. The women who live in these countries of course don't have a choice in this, since the penalty for apostasy in Islam is death. Yet its apparently a 'religion of peace'. Hmm...
